PORTFOLIO & STORY

NATURE AND US.

FINDING THE LIGHT IN THE DARKEST PLACES

Many people find great joy in the obvious beauty of nature. The freedom, the growth and the unique ability for an environment to adapt and once again flourish in the wake of a disaster; is a shared experience between nature, and us.

My process of creation is not only a visual expression of healing and growth, but a representation of the journey of emotional healing, through the use of colour, texture, movement and balance. The flowers portray a world in which I would rather see, outside of my own perspective. My hope is that those who see my art will unknowingly connect intuitively with the shared feelings of the energies expressed within my individual works.

Enchanted Meadows Collection

The inspiration for this collection derived from my strong personal connection to the Canadian East Coast, specifically Nova Scotia where my mother grew up. Recently, we took a road trip out east and travelled the Cabot Trail for the first time. On the trip, we had stopped at a local gift shop and I had bought a book called "The Fairies of Cape Breton", I was intrigued by both the magic and folklore of the mischievous creatures hidden among the meadows. The fairies seemed to mirror my own playful, and at times feisty personality and I was inspired to create a new collection that reflected the energy of the enchanted meadows of Cape Breton.

Day Dream Collection

The 'Day Dream' collection is a story of transitioning to a dream-like state of higher consciousness, an exploration of life after death & our earthly connection to the spiritual realm.

When we sleep, many believe it is a time for our minds and bodies to restore, heal & rejuvenate and while that may be true, many also believe there is something deeper and more spiritual that happens when we sleep.

What happens to our subconscious while we are sleeping and what is awaiting us after we die?

Is there some kind of thread that connects what happens to our subconscious while we are asleep and what happens to our higher consciousness after we die? Do we experience a form of spiritual awakening when our minds and bodies are dormant in our waking life?

This series depicts the journey our higher consciousness takes when we leave our bodies; in sleep and in death. So often your most perplexing questions are hidden in life's most ordinary human experiences.

Feminine Power Collection

2023

The Feminist Power Collection is inspired by the undying strength and will that all women carry within them. Historically, women are viewed as "the weaker sex", when in all reality, the strength of women does not always manifest itself physically, but more often, internally. The emotional and spiritual strength of a woman is unparalleled and more often than not, we see our powers shine through the strongest, is in the face of adversity. The Divine Feminine is powerful, commanding and unstoppable because in the darkness, we all shine our brightest.

Curiosity Collection

My newest series of original artwork, the ‘Curiosity’ collection, is inspired by childhood wonder and imagination. Each piece in the collection represents a time in all our lives, before we developed an ego, when the world was still full of colour and we used our imagination to solve our questions about life. When we were young, we didn't question our realities, we created them and we looked at the world around us with such little understanding, yet we accepted the realities we are given and still felt a sense of safety and security. Imagine if we still saw the world through a child’s eyes, what would be different?

Art For Change Collection

This newer series of original paintings are inspired by change. Each original painting is influenced by a topic that I feel passionate about and hope to encourage a conversation that will help impact positive change. This series depicts topics such as environmental awareness, climate change, nature, femininity and mental health.

I believe we all have the ability to affect change, but how we chose to do that is different. I believe energy defines our universe; how we think, interact & express ourselves; it impacts everything around us. When we chose to recognize our individual abilities & talents, we can find our power and how we chose to use it, is our prerogative. This is just one of mine.

Secret Garden Collection

The "Secret Garden" Collection is created to encourage you to take pause and look beyond the surface of what you see. Explore the secrets that are hidden to the naked eye. Take a moment to question your reality and see beyond your own limitations.

Inspired by the "Where's Waldo" books, each painting has secrets hidden within, when you find them, you will know.

Symphony Of Floral Expression Collection

This collection was painted to the sound of Mahler's Symphony No. 9, due to the story behind the music. Mahler's Symphony No. 9 depicts his struggle between "hope and despair, meaning and chaos, joy and resignation in the face of his own death" -Ben Zander

The music resonated with the emotions I was feeling during this time in my life and helped me to express my feelings through large scale movement & texture.

Mini Collection

Painting on a larger scale has always been a preference of my style, but I wanted to offer more styles and sizing options for my original artworks, as well, my mini collection is an opportunity for me to explore my creativity using different materials and sizing scales.

Illustration Print Collection

I have always been someone who craves knowledge and values education. I have the desire to continuously be challenged to grow in every aspect of my life, which is why I had interest in attempting digital art and illustrations, to be able to further my skills & career as an artist. I enjoy creating digital art that reflects a minimalist style, but also enjoy the opportunity to dive back into realism illustrations. Previous to becoming a painter, I mainly enjoyed pen or pencil realism illustrations and before flowers, I would draw women's faces. I hope to have a few portrait illustrations created in 2024!
