WORKSHOP POLICY

The Workshop Policies describes the terms & conditions required for all participants to understand & abide by

Layers is a five-week journey, and each session builds on the one before it. Your spot — and your personal art kit — is reserved just for you from the moment you register, so please read this policy before signing up!.

Non-refundable fees

Every registration includes two costs that are non-refundable unless the full series is cancelled:

  • $65 materials fee — covers your personal art kit and canvas, which are prepared for you in advance.

  • $20 service fee — covers registration and administration fees.

That's $85 per participant that is not refundable, unless the full series is cancelled.

Before the series begins

  • You can request a partial refund up to 72 hours before the first session begins.

  • Partial refunds are the ticket price minus the $85 non-refundable fees: Single registration ($400): $315 refunded

  • Pair registration ($600): $430 refunded if both people withdraw

  • If one person in a pair withdraws, the other keeps their spot at the single rate ($400), and $115 is refunded

  • Refund requests must be sent in writing to ryleyjamesart@gmail.com. The request counts from the time it's received.

  • Refunds are returned via e-transfer and sent directly to the same email account used when purchasing your ticket (unless otherwise notified) within [7–10 business days].

  • Requests received less than 72 hours before the first session are not eligible for any refund.

Once the series has begun

  • Layers is sold as a complete five-week series. Once the first session has started, there are no refunds, partial refunds or discounts for any reason, including missed sessions.

If we need to cancel or reschedule

  • If Layers is cancelled by Ryley James Art, you'll receive a full refund, including the materials and service fees, or you can choose to move your spot to the next series at no extra cost. This is the only situation in which a full refund is given.

  • If a single session needs to be rescheduled — for example, for weather related reasons, you'll be notified as early as possible, and the session will be rescheduled for the same time on a different day in the week or the session may rescheduled for the same time the following week and the series will be extended. Note: In any case where an entire session requires rescheduling, participants will be notified and asked for their preferences to try to accommodate the scheduling change. Once the rescheduled date has been determined & confirmed, all participants will be notified of the changes.

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

Each session is only 90 minutes, and it begins together — with a few quiet breaths to help everyone arrive. To protect that time for the whole group:

  • Start times are strict. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to settle in.

  • The group will not wait more than 5 minutes past the start time. If you arrive after that, you're welcome to join quietly, but the session won't be restarted or extended. Note: Ryley will bring you up to speed with anything you missed as soon as she is free!

  • If you can't attend a session, for any reason, no refund or discount will be offered, and rescheduling isn't always guaranteed.

  • Please contact me directly at ryleyjamesart@gmail.com / (705)305-4144 as soon as you know you'll miss a session. Ryley will do her best to offer an individual catch-up session, but this depends on availability and is not guaranteed.

  • Your canvas & personal workshop materials will be kept safely at the studio each week, and will be yours to take home at the end of the 5-weeks!

ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY POLICY

The Layers workshop series works because everyone in the room feels safe. Before registering, every participant agrees to help create and protect that space — for themselves and for each other.

By joining Layers, I agree to:

  1. Keep it confidential. Anything shared in the group stays in the group. I won't repeat, post or discuss what other participants share, express or create outside of the sessions.

  2. Respect everyone's privacy. I won't photograph or record other participants or their canvases without their permission.

  3. Keep it substance-free. I'll will not bring or consume any alcohol, cannabis or recreational drugs to the workshop by any means (this is in the respect of all participants, due to the nature of the series and topics/themes discussed)

  4. Keep it judgement-free. I'll respect that everyone's experience, feelings and canvas are their own. I won't critique, compare or comment on anyone else's work or process unless invited to.

  5. Take care of myself. I'll take a break, step into the "cozy corner" or reach out for support whenever I need to, and understand that sharing is always optional. Note: Participants are encouraged to reach out to Ryley directly at any point before, during or after the series with ANY issues, concerns, or need for support, resources, community, etc. Please do not hesitate to reach out!

  6. Treat everyone with grace, kindness and respect, including the facilitator, other participants, the space and MOST importantly, yourself.

If this agreement is not respected, the facilitator may ask a participant to leave a session or the series, without a refund, to protect the privacy & safety of the group.
